Are you a visual team manager? Do you have one or a few full-time or part-time employees? Are some of your employees out of place? If so, you know how difficult it can be and what the problems of remote management are. Although hardship is a necessity in our current business environment. In this article, we will discuss some tips to make managing a little easier. After reading this I would like to hear some of your ideas and opinions.

When managing remotely and transcending cultures it is important to make sure that everyone in the group is trained to manage different cultures and that the particular cultures represented are discussed and understood. It is also important to ensure that language is not a barrier and that people know what to do when it becomes an obstacle to understanding.

Before you start working make sure you do some work somewhere. That is training with the team process and what the team can expect as the team goes through the formative, winding, normal, playful, and reversal stages. Help them understand how to make the process work and what to do if there are any interruptions. This will take time but is worth it over time because it allows the team to move faster and more efficiently over time.

Help the team set basic rules for how they will work together. These rules should include things like respect, sharing ideas, phone exchanges, completing a task, intervening to help, what to do in the event of a job loss, conflict, entertainment - to say the least. Enter everything the team needs to do to be effective.

Another special area to work on is the conflict that occurs far away. You will need to spend time figuring out how to handle this. Not only are people playing into conflict but so is culture. As a team leader, you will need to stay on top of this. What steps you will take and what steps you can expect your team members to take in the event of a conflict. How can you turn a destructive argument into a positive one?

The key is to build trust. You will have to work hard from day one to build and maintain trust because it is the foundation of good cooperation. You will have to wait for it, set a good example, watch it and teach it. If you do that you will find that your team is thriving.
